DON POST WOLF MAN MASK

When Don Post Studios offered its first Wolf Man mask, friend Bob Burns bought one of the first off the line, which he showed Don during a 1963 vacation in Los Angeles.  Don wore the mask in the amateur movie serial he was making at the time The Adventures of the Spirit  (first three photos, below),  in which the Wolf Man fought Captain America (played by Bob).  Of course, Don had to buy one of those masks for himself. The  first two black and white studio photos (below) were shot in 1963 for  friend John (now Erik) Shiozaki’s  Columbia College photography project The last two photos were taken by famous glamour photographer Peter Gowland in 1964. In 1966, while wearing this get-up, Don was attacked at the home of “Monkee” Mike Nesmith by his attack-trained German shepherd Frak, an experience still vividly remembered!
